CLIENT: FIRST AVENUE PRODUCTIONS
First Avenue Productions is the leading music promoter in Minnesota operating five venues across the twin cities, including the famous First Avenue music venue featured in Prince’s movie ‘Purple Rain.’ I worked as the sole in-house graphic designer at First Avenue for nearly three years, and helped update a variety of the brand’s most visible marketing pieces. I also created or localized poster art all of the 500+ concerts (with help from a small intern team I managed) and created a variety of graphics and videos to promote events.

City Pages Centerfold
First avenue runs a full two-page at the center of Minneapolis’ favorite alt-weekly, the City Pages. I redesigned this layout to bring in artist photos, split up each venue, and be more modular to highlight specific shows. In addition to designing this layout, I also updated it each week with all the newly announced concerts.
Printed Calendars
Distributed to every café, restaurant, and hang-out spot city wide, First Avenue’s printed calendars are a staple of the Minneapolis music scene. I helped refresh the design of this calendar to be more stylish and readable while being more efficient to update each week.
Exterior Signage
Next to each entrance of First Avenue’s famously star-adorned exterior are some signage light boxes which hold large-format signage. I helped redesign these signs with a day-of poster with a large headliner photo and a calendar, updated each week, with upcoming concerts. In addition to designing and updating all of this marketing collateral, I also worked with the printers to oversee weekly production and delivery of all signage.
